List of Best Social Networks

Social media is an effective way of communicating through the Internet. Websites devoted to social media connect users through a variety of different interests, as well as methods, of communication. Many of these sites are free to use, as their success depends entirely on the size of their user base. You should sign up for the social media sites that best suit you; it's not practical nor possible to sign up for them all.

Twitter
Twitter is a real-time information social media website. Some call it a "micro-blogging" site. It seeks to spread information in 140 characters or less. This enables users to stay informed on their favorite topics without being overwhelmed with information. It's also commonly used by companies as a way to market their products or services.

MySpace
MySpace was one of the first popular social media websites. While it's no longer at the height of its popularity, it's still widely used. Users create profiles of themselves or groups, posting related status updates, photos and files.

LinkedIn
LinkedIn is a professional and business social media website. It establishes connections through workplaces and academic institutions, including professional relationships. Users post their resumes, experience and other related professional information.

Foursquare
This is a social communications website based on mobile phone networking. Users activate the application on their phones whenever they visit various places, such as businesses and recreational areas. Users then post their experiences at each location and receive suggestions on related areas they can visit.

Digg
It began as a news aggregator where users from all over the world could post about blogs, news stories and other information available on the Web. Then, the popularity of the posted item would determine how early in the list it was shown to readers. Since then it has expanded the options available to users, allowing them to customize the news items they want to be made aware of. They can also follow the posters they like, being alerted whenever something is submitted by that respective user.

Tumblr
It's mainly a blogging and reblogging site where users post their interests, writings, photography and any other information they find interesting on their own page. The site allows you to schedule posts and monitor the activity of other users. Users can also customize their pages however they see fit.
