Import Facebook Contacts to Gmail

Facebook is a social networking site with over 330 million members. Gmail is a free email service from Google. Have you ever wished you could import all of your friends from Facebook into your Gmail contacts list at once, rather than individually? While you can't do this directly, Facebook contacts can be imported to another email service--Yahoo!--and then exported into a CSV file that can then be imported into Gmail.

Create an account with Yahoo! if you don't have one already. Visit the Yahoo! website and click "Sign Up" near the top to create an account. If you don't want to create a new Yahoo! account for this temporary purpose, you can sign in with your Facebook or Gmail account. Click on either the Facebook or Gmail icons on the top right corner of the account creation screen. A new window will open prompting you to allow Yahoo! to synchronize itself with your other accounts. Click "Allow." Confirm your Name and click "Continue."

Log into Yahoo! and open your Mailbox. Click "Contacts." Under "Popular Tools," and "Import your Contacts from other accounts to Yahoo!," click "Import now." Click the Facebook icon to open a small Facebook login window. Login to your Facebook account and click "Allow," then wait for Yahoo! to finish importing all of your contacts. Click "Done."

Click on the "Tools" menu above your Contacts list, then click "Export." Click "Export Now" next to the "Yahoo! CSV" option. You'll be asked to enter a verification code to prove you're not a robot. Click "Export Now" and a file called "yahoo_ab.csv" will begin downloading. Save the file to a directory where you can find it later.

Log into Gmail. Click on "Contacts." Click "Import Contacts..." on the menu to the left. Browse to the CSV file you exported from Yahoo! Mail and select it, then click "Import." Gmail will import all of your Facebook contacts into your Gmail contacts. Click "OK."
