Route Email Through Gmail to Outlook

Routing email through Gmail to Outlook simplifies your life by letting you handle all your email in one place. Gmail and Outlook can communicate using two different sets of rules, or protocols, that govern exactly how their connection works. With a few quick steps, Outlook 2010 can automatically connect to your Gmail account, putting all your email in one place.

Start Outlook 2010. Click the "File" tab in the ribbon, then select "Info" to display the Account Information screen.

Click "Add New Account." This launches the Auto Account Setup wizard.

Enter your name, full Gmail address and Gmail password, then click "Next." Outlook will take several minutes to find your Gmail account and configure itself to work with that account. When it is done, the wizard displays a Congratulations message. Click "Finish" to complete the process.

Look at the Outlook navigation pane. You should see a new set of folders for the Gmail account. These folders replicate the folder structure of your Gmail account. Messages in your Gmail folders will be visible in Outlook, and any changes you make through Gmail or Outlook get synchronized so that the contents of the folders always match.
