Set Up Your Own Domain to Gmail

Gmail can be setup to send and receive email from an external email account on a domain name that you own. After configuring Gmail to work with this account, you can send and receive email on the account directly from the Gmail interface. You will also have the option of using your Gmail email address after setting up your domain's email account to work with Gmail. This process can be used to manage multiple email accounts on various domains from one Gmail account.

Open your Web browser and log in to the email account you will be adding to Gmail. Obtain the "POP Server" and "Port" information that is associated with this email account. This information will be needed to setup your email account on Gmail.

Navigate to Gmail and log in to your account. Click on the "Settings" link located toward the top of the Gmail page. Click the "Accounts and Import" link at the top of the "Settings" page. Click the "Add POP3 email account" button under the "Check mail using POP3" heading.

Type the email address you would like to use with Gmail in the white box located in the "Add a mail account you own" window that opens. Click the "Next Step" button at the bottom of the window.

Type the password for the email account you wish to add on the screen that comes up. The "Username" field will be pre-populated. Choose whether you would like a copy of received e-mails on the server on which your domain is hosted.

Select whether you would like Google to use a secure connection when obtaining email from your account. Choose whether you would like Gmail to specifically label messages that are sent to this email address. Select whether you would like incoming mail from this email address to go straight to the "All Mail" folder and skip the inbox. Click the "Add Account" button at the bottom of the window.

Click either "Yes" or "No" to indicate whether you would like to be able to send emails from this email address using Gmail on the screen that follows. The email address on the domain that you own will now be forwarded to your Gmail account. You will also be able to send email from this address in Gmail if you have opted to do so.
