From the Internet of People to the Internet of Things

When driving the vehicle to work or to any other destination, we can rely on the use of an application on the vehicle's dash panel or at least on our smartphone to guide us through the best way to reach to the place of our choice, we can select options such as avoiding tolls or highways should we chose to elect so, and then all we have to do is just follow the guidance of the voice from the application. Impressive! Just like that; there are more applications than we can count-on for a diversity of related services to help us on our daily activities.

Now imagine driving on your vehicle away from home to a destination far away for your next vacation. Having an application guiding your journey and at the same time as you drive, checking on your vehicle fuel tank level and notifying you for the closest gas-station with the lowest prices of your preferred octane rating for your vehicle on your way forward if needed to, ensuring there is enough gas in the tank to reach to your destination; having the same application checking continuously on your tire pressure and general vehicle's health, and providing alerts such any of these issues requires attention.

While driving long hours on your trip, imagine the application providing options for you on food and lodging based on your preferences such as price range, bed and amenities preferences', or for vegetarian, Mexican or Italian restaurants in the area, and providing you with the best of all options. All you have to do is just to speak out or touch on the screen the option of your choice and the application will complete the reservation for you and/or guide you through the new stop on you way.

How far in the future?

Some of these features we are enjoying today, but there are other ones which pretty soon will be available, it is a trend destined to grow exponentially, it will include many if not all of our imaginable needs on a daily basis. All of these interactions is what it is being called Internet of Things, it certainly is not longer a thing to take place in the future rather a reality of our present day, and it is expanding rather fast.

Why is it important?

Just like the Internet is here to connect people, the Internet of Things is here to connect devices which can now interact with other bunch of them, it is estimated that since 2008 there are more devices connected to the internet than people. It is easy to assume and understand then why of the importance of the Internet of Things and why should we care to know about and get use to it as an integral part of our lives.

The Internet of Things is aimed to facilitate our daily activities and tasks by taking over some basic decisions on our behalf, where there is a network of devices connecting to the internet in order to take away from us repetitive actions or to complete tasks by learning from our condition and preferences. Those futuristic self-driving cars we watch on movies are closer than ever to be a reality, let's get comfy and watch for more as it comes available.

True is, the IoT has just born, there is plenty for all parties to learn and develop in order to make it grow in a structured and efficient way. For it to be fully realizable, its development needs to be thought to allow a connection among devices to be easiable, a plug-n-play concept.

Contemplating Installing a WLAN? Welcome!

Let me start off by saying up front, this is NOT an ad for any particular device or company. I'm merely setting down my experiences and making some general recommendations. My first attempt at standing up a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) was just so I could have access to the Internet from anywhere in my three story townhouse. I hooked up my cable modem to a directional wireless router, and adjusted the antennae so that I had adequate coverage on all floors.

Then I made sure the LAN was secure by assigning a strong password to the router's encryption feature. All went well. I could go anywhere I pleased in our home and access the Internet. Over time, I populated each floor with a smattering of various PCs, conveniently located so I could log in whenever the whim hit me. My family also liked the convenience of being able to reach the Internet with whatever portable device they happened to hold. Just for convenience, I placed a wireless printer on each floor and linked it to the WLAN. Everything was going on smoothly.

But one glaring problem was that I was still using each PC locally, and sharing files between computers was a nightmare.

Then I heard about the Western Digital's "MyCloud". Quick like a bunny, I bought a 2 Gb "MyCloud," apprehensively attached it to my router via its Ethernet port and then linked it to each of my remote computers as a separate drive.

What a rush! This is amazing! Now I have remote access to all of my projects and files from anywhere in my house! I'm a believer!

When you're setting up your home WLAN, you might also want to consider adding a Western Digital's "MyCloud" or similar remote Wireless server as a remotely, fully controlled information repository. Linked to your home network, and behind your router's firewall, it's the perfect place to put all of your important (and in my case, almost all) files. Accessible from any place in your house, through any device connected to your LAN, it's a perfect way to share information and to have access to that information.

Before I invested in my MyCloud, I had to remember on which machine I had saved files locally, Now, I can log in from any of my machines, and have immediate access.

You may find that some other company's product fits your lifestyle better than Western Digital. That's OK. The whole gist of my advice is to have you consider a remote data and information serve that is under your total control.

Now, I'm not completely paranoid about "Cloud Servers" that sit external to your router's firewall, they do have their place, but I do abhor paying a fee to access my own personally created files.

Things to Know About E-Communication Explained

It's approximately 2pm on a Sunday and I have probably sent 50 e-messages today. This includes social media messages, text messaging and email. In comparison to other people, that is more than likely a very low number. Yet, it made me think about the high percentage of communication that is conducted electronically.

Instant Response Gratification

If I need to connect with a friend my preferred method of contact is always text. Calling is such a bother and once you get into a conversation the entire process is prolonged. Who has time for that? Plus, I usually get an instant response. Perfect. Sounds cold but this is true for most people. We talk when we meet - hopefully. None of us want to be one of those people constantly consulting their phone when meeting with friends or worse clients!

For business, my first choice is always email. Less of an instant response but the percentage is high that a response will be provided quickly. This is a bit more stressful because instant response gratification has become somewhat of a norm.

Social media is another good resource for "instant response gratification". A post from a personal account almost always gets an instant like from someone. A post from a business account is hit or miss but it is more of a supplementary communication tool so it's forgivable.

Still Writing Letters, but Watch your Etiquette!

Okay so now that we have established that e-communication is hot, how do we apply that favorably in order to streamline our work but avoid becoming robotic and impersonal? Everyone likes to get immediate feedback. Customers and candidates do not want to wait for an answer. That is the plus to communicating electronically. Everyone always seems to be available. The drawback is that it can lead to some confusion and lack of clarity. The positive is that it can lead to less confusion and more clarity. Huh?

Let's break this apart. With the steady stream of messages, especially emails, many messages are missed just because everyone is dealing with high volume or they read between the lines of what is sent. The other caveat is that you always have to be careful of what you put in writing.

Everyone is not especially talented in the written word and how you communicate is always an indication of your professionalism or lack of. Grammar, spelling, and content should always be checked for correctness. In this hurried world, which is why we are communicating in this way to begin with, some of the basic rules of written communication are often violated.

It's interesting because in days of old everyone wrote letters. Today we are back to writing letters it is simply that the delivery is much quicker. That being said, written communication is nothing new. The rules have not changed.

Have you ever sent an email to someone that should not have been on the recipient list because you mis-keyed and accidentally included them? This has happened to most of us and it's not something that we are proud of. Apologies are usually in order but once the "send" button is pressed there is not much that can be done.

It is the same story with attachments. How many times has this happened? You boast a litany of reasons why the recipients need to check out the document as soon as possible only to have someone send you that dreaded message, "No attachment". Ughh. Painful every time! Always attach before writing your message to help avoid this issue.

The problem with all electronic communication is that you cannot take it back, just like that letter or card you popped into the mailbox. That is why it is very important that you do some planning with every message that you write. Yes, every message. Even your personal Facebook® posts can have an impact on your business life.

Rules for Social Posts

What are some simple rules for social posts? Never post something that you would not be okay with "everyone" seeing. That includes your mom, your boss, your work colleagues, customers, etc. Everything is open game today. You may even be connected with some of your customers on your personal social media platforms. Pretty much it never goes away and there is opportunity for anyone to view. BCWYP - Be Careful What You Post!

Also be careful of what you share on social media. Some people share posts without even reading them. Read what you are sharing before you post to make sure it represents you and your company well. You would not want to share something that is not part of your belief and passion, therefore reading everything first is essential.

Although every company should have a written document on social media posting and make it clear to employees what is okay to post, some companies are lacking in this area. If you are unaware of what the posting policy is for your company, do not post on behalf of your company. It is very important that you are informed on what your company allows you to post when you are representing your company on social media or otherwise.

Keep it Beneficial and Interesting!

It is very plausible and even necessary to text and email with customers and candidates regularly. If you are not doing this you are missing out on a huge relationship-building medium. Keeping in touch electronically to make customers and candidates aware of opportunities and information that could benefit them is crucial. It is important to allow them to "opt out" and if they do, you should not message them again without first receiving permission.

With e-communication, keep people informed about your company and your products, but don't overkill with a bunch of boring messages that are saying the same thing. Also, remember your social media and email etiquette. Don't hound people that connect with you with constant and intrusive sales messages unless you want to be disconnected.

In closing, written communication, albeit electronic, is a way of life. It is a very important element in our business and personal lives. As with everything, we can use it for our benefit or for our demise. It's up to us.

What Is RAID Data Recovery

Even with the best kind of storage devices available in the digital world, one might face a data loss problem anytime around. Loss of data can be a huge problem as it can lead to various kinds of organizational and work troubles. However, if the data was written to the device's memory then it can be recovered by using various data recovery tools and techniques. The data recovery tools or software can help one get back the data in its truest form, however, the success of the recovering process also greatly depends on the type of damage and structure of the system.

Reasons for data loss

There can be various reasons for unwanted data loss like:

Deletion of folders and files.
Failure of storage
The logical system of the device getting damaged
If the file system gets formatted mistakenly etc.
Out of various kinds of data storage devices, very high capacity yet fragile storage device is RAID. Losing data on RAID is one of the major troubles these days as it may not always be the most reliable option for both home and organizational users. For the recovery of the data perfectly, one should take help of the best raid recovery services.
What is raid data recovery?

RAID or redundant array of independent disks, is a kind of storage device which can store huge amount of data on a daily basis. If the RAID system fails the big chunks of data can be lost and for that only Raid data recovery software are used. The recovery process is a mix of manual and automated procedures. These techniques are used on both software and hardware based RAID architectures. The recovery of data can be done from any level of RAID (0, 1, 2, 3, etc.). The process can be complex, as it starts with recognizing the RAID level and then moves to restructure the storage arrays to its initial configuration.

The reasons for data loss from a RAID system are:

Faulty and bad controllers
Hard disks which are faulty
Overwriting of data
Disks getting reformatted
Corrupted software
Why take professional help?
With the sudden loss of data in a RAID system, the thing that one should consider first is to consult a data recovery firm immediately. Like mentioned before RAID is a complex system and it is better to leave the recovery process to the professional only, otherwise one might have to end up with permanent data loss.

This professional who does the Raid recovery follows a set pattern to avoid bigger damages. The initial step involves making sure that all drives are working perfectly by cleaning them and then fixing them. After this, all the drives are cloned in a way that no other data is written onto it. Now, these clones are used in the recovery process and the originals are not tampered with. After this the cloned drives are described, this brings in all the scattered data to a single location. After this one can start the general data recovery process.

What To Know About LED Lights

What are the LED lights?

There are several types of lights in the market like incandescent, fluorescent, etc. But out of them, the LED lights are one of the most recent yet most highly preferred lighting options among people. LED or Light Emitting Diode is a kind of lighting fixture, in which the light source is illuminated by the electricity that passes through a microchip. Also, to make it more efficient the heat produced is collected back into a heat sink. This makes sure that the bulb does not get overheated and that it does not get burnt out. This kind of heat management makes it one of the most used lighting fixture with an Energy Star. They are almost 90% more efficient than other kind of lights. They also have a longer life than incandescent and CFL's.

How it is different from other light sources?

The main things that make LEDs more preferred than the other forms is that they are more versatile in use, more efficient and have a longer life period.

The direction of light:
LED lights are unidirectional; means they will source their light is a specific direction only which is perfect for various applications like traffic lights etc. This also means that it will be using the energy efficiently. CFL and incandescent, on the other hand, throw light in every direction, increasing the power consumption and heat production.
Producing white light:
LED light in the original state is of red, blue, green and amber, but a layer of the phosphor is used to turn it into the white light. Whereas in CFL the light is produced by UV light and heat which, when strikes phosphor gets converted to white light and in incandescent, the white light is produced when the metal filament glows till it gets white hot. In both the CFLs and incandescent the heat production is too high as compared to LED.
What are the benefits of using LED lights?

There are various advantages of using LED light fixtures for one's home and offices. Some of them are:

Save energy: they use less electricity and thus will reduce one's electricity costs and consumption substantially. These are great for room and spaces where one would need lights all throughout the day.
Longer life: LEDs do not fail or get burned out like others and also can have a life of approximately 50,000 hours. This means one will not have to buy them again and again and can also save the cost of changing lights, especially in a commercial space.
Durability: they do not break easily and are also resistant to any other kind of environmental conditions. They are also not affected by constant on and offs as their performance do not get degraded after numerous cycles.
Cold resistant: LEDs work more efficiently in colder temperatures, unlike other lightings. This is the reason why they are highly used in freezers, cold storages, parking lots and boundary lightings.
No harmful emissions: unlike incandescents which has a production of UV and IR, however in LEDs, there is almost no UV or IR emissions thus preventing any kind of burn and heating hazards.

Amazing Tips to Buy a 3D Printer

If you are looking for a good 3D printer, make sure you consider the most important features first regardless of your purpose. 3D printers are used for various purposes, such as model making, research, prototyping, medical, manufacturing and so on. Although there are many features to take into account when buying, we are going to discuss the most important ones in this article, such as cost, speed and resolution. Let's delve into detail.

Resolution

As far as the resolution is concerned, make sure you consider the type of objects that you want to print with the machine. For instance, if you want to print models that have a lot of detail, excellent surface finish and extreme precision, make sure you opt for the right type of machine.

For higher level of details, you may want to opt for a DLP one. They are the most recommended choices. Other types, such as SLA and FDM won't allow you to get fine details. Although large-scale items don't require fine detail. Therefore, the use of an HD printer in order to create this type of parts is just the waste of resources and time.

Speed

As far as the printing performance is concerned, the speed of the machine is of paramount importance. Time is money. Today is the age of speed. If you are slow, you won't be able to beat the fierce competition in the market. Therefore, it's a good idea to opt for a machine that offers fast speeds.

Whether you want to print a figurine, ring or a functional part, make sure you choose something that offers a reasonably high speed. Although it's important to get accurate results, speed is a factor that can't be underestimated. Doing things quickly is really important in the here and now.

Cost

Although buying a 3D printer that features high speed and resolution is important, cost is another factor that should not be ignored at any cost. Some suppliers will suggest that you should opt for a service plan, expensive materials, and maintenance costs while you already have paid for the machine.

To save a great deal of money, we suggest that you choose a machine that uses affordable raw material and accessories in order to serve multiple purposes.

Size

As far as buying 3D printers is concerned, size is one of the most important factors to consider. Based on the size of the object you want to print, this factor should be considered carefully.

Apart from this, the print bed size may also offer better resolution since multiple objects can be easily printed. When looking for this feature, don't forget to consider the technical specifications as far as build volume and size is concerned. While buying a big machine will cost more, making a compromise on the cost is not a good idea. Instead, you should buy something high quality even if you have to spend a bit more.

In short, these are some important factors that play a great role when you are buying a 3D printer. Don't just buy a product just because it looks pleasing to your eyes. Make your decision based on the factors given above.

Is Gaming Becoming a Sport in the United States?

The amount of video game use we see in society today is arguably inescapable. Mobile games such as; Candy Crush, Game of War, or Clash of Clans, record daily revenues in the millions, and someone is bound to recognize one if not all of these game names. This exposure to gaming in everyday light seems to be bringing in a new and unseen age in gaming, where gaming could be seen as a sport.

Ever since the first two people booted up "Pong" on the Atari 2600, gaming has been competitive. When you think about it, playing a game of soccer and playing a video game aren't all that different. The object is always to win the game but the level of competition and players in the game can vary. Growing up I played Call of Duty on a fairly competitive level but I had no idea how big the competitive gaming industry would grow to be. The growth in this industry can be traced to a number of factors. The financial growth in the gaming industry has been incredible. The recent stance that "nerd culture" has taken in the popular media through means such as The Big Bang Theory. The push by people who genuinely enjoy gaming culture and want to see it get a spot in the limelight has brought gaming into everyday life for the general public.

So what is causing video games to turn into a source of entertainment that people would watch from home like they would football or soccer? The answers might surprise you. In July of 2014 "Defense of the Ancients" or DOTA was played by teams around the world for a community raised prize pool totaling $10,923,980 U.S. dollars. Teams of five would play against one another and eliminate the competition as they moved towards the grand finals and the ultimate prize of first place. While this was the fourth tournament of this type hosted by the games creators, it was the first time it was televised by ESPN 3. ESPN was pleased so much by the results of the coverage they agreed to follow up the next year. It is crazy to think that within the next few years we might see coverage of video games on Sports Center. Unlike ESPN which is only showing you content on competitive gaming during big tournaments, streaming is available all the time. Twitch TV being the main website that comes to mind. Streaming sites allow content creators to show what is happening live on their computers to audiences who can join in the conversation with a chat group function as they watch their favorite steamers/players play live. The potential for growth through an avenue like this is enormous. Just think, you could watch a TV show and chat with fellow fans of the show from all around the world with great ease, all while being able to communicate with content creators.

We know what is bringing gaming into the sports arena, but what is keeping it out? Well it is just not quite time for electronic sports (E-Sports) to become a household name, at least not in the United States. South Korea may be an example of what is to come in terms of E-Sports in the United States. Say the name "Star Craft" and nine times out of ten, a Korean will know what you are referring to. The game Star Craft is practically a national past time of South Korea. The game is featured on cable television and is even featured on a few apps offered by Microsoft's Xbox, which is a direct competitor to the PC gaming market that Star Craft belongs to. Players in Korea are treated like celebrities, signing autographs, taking pictures with fans, and appearing on talk shows from time to time. Now if I were to tell this to the average American, more than likely the response would be along the lines of "Are you serious?" It's that big of a deal over there?" Yes, E-Sports in Korea and to a lesser degree, China and Japan are already booming industries. So why hasn't gaming already become a large industry in the United States where most of these games are made? Americans tend to like different games than the Asian players do. Americans tend to like fast paced shooters, such as Call of Duty or Counter Strike, while Asian players tend to favor strategic games such as Star Craft or DOTA. The problem with shooters is that less strategy is involved. Think of the two genres as an approach to an American football game. While both genres have a well-defined goal like in football the strategic games feature ways to counter movements of other players or their choice of how to move toward their goal via tech choices or character choices. In football, if the defense sends a blitz, you try to counter that blitz by getting the ball to a receiver who is open, or run the ball in the opposite direction of the blitz. There is no correct way to approach the defense's strategy, and the offense can still make choices on how to approach the situation. The same cannot be said about shooters, there simply isn't enough depth in gameplay to give watchers new ideas about how they can apply techniques used by professionals into their own gameplay.

Professional gaming is on its way to becoming a real sport in the United States. With air times on ESPN and through the popularization of gaming in everyday life within five or ten years we might see a good chunk of people walking around with E-sport's team jerseys. Due to the trends of gaming in the U.S. it will likely take radical changes in gameplay to keep viewers watching and to get more of the public interested, but it is feasible. It will take the work of dedicated fans of the sport to push gaming further into the public eye but from what we have seen in the past few years it's clear that gaming will be considered a sport in the near future.

Radio Broadcasting's Vital Role in Emergencies

Radio broadcasting has a long history; one that goes beyond Tesla, Marconi and Armstrong, and it includes advances in communication and technology, as explained by Radio magazine. Some of the important dates from radio's past are covered on the AmericanRadioHistory.com website. There, one can read about the earliest forms of radiotelegraphy systems.

In fact, early 1920s marks an important date in time of radio telegraph communication: In that time, the basis of public radio network broadcasting and even early TV programming were provided: Scientists were experimenting in 1925 with TVs, to include video content disseminated via radio transmissions on designated channels to a dispersed audience.

Early audio transmission set in motion AM broadcasting on a radio station. To overcome the interference problems of AM radio, stations began to use FM radio in the 1930s as its band provided a more clear-cut audio sound through the air as radio waves from a transmitter to an antenna. It was not until the 2000s that Americans were introduced to digital radio and direct broadcasting by satellite (DBS).

By the 1930s, radio broadcasting and television broadcasting (telecasting) was an integral part of the American way of life.

In the previous decade, the 1920s, early amateur radio transmitted information in the form of Morse code; a series of on-off tones provided communication on telegraph lines, undersea cables and radio circuits for transmitting emergency signals. Radio telegraphy using Morse code proved vital during World War II. Also Mayday calls were made by radio to signal a life-threatening emergency. A fire, an explosion or sinking vessel or aircraft, where announced with a signal transmitted three times in a row ("Mayday Mayday Mayday"); the distress call was broadcasted to reach out for assistance in times of an emergency.

A device dubbed the ham radio was used for amateur radio broadcasting early on; a range of frequencies (set aside for commercial, police and government use only) allowed one- and two-way communication by the 1940s. The ham radio happened to be something of an emergency broadcast system to get the word out to the wider community in the event of an emergency, such as a natural disaster. Apparently the SOS (amateur distress call) sent by the Titanic had used a radio ham in April 1912, noted ARRL (American Radio Relay League), the national association for Amateur Radio, on its webpage on "Ham Radio History."

In the 1950s, CONELRAD (Control of Electromagnetic Radiation) was a method of emergency broadcasting to the public; the CONELRAD system (used during the Cold War) was replaced by the Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) in the 60s, which was later replaced with the Emergency Alert System (EAS) in the 90s. Regardless of the name change, each one served as a national warning system for the American public in the event of war or grave national crisis, in addition to local weather emergencies. Such broadcasting systems had a vital role in emergencies to quickly provide the necessary alert and message to a community when a disastrous situation arose. In essence, it announced an emergency broadcast response which could potentially save human lives and deliver instructions if an evacuation was required.

How SEGA Shot Themselves in the Foot With the Saturn

If you're a gamer and you've given more than a cursory glance to industry news in the last couple of years then you'll probably be aware of how Microsoft well and truly bungled the launch of the Xbox One. Whether it was arrogance, hubris, or just sheer bone-headedness, somebody at Microsoft really misjudged the marketing for the latest Xbox console, and the effects of that can still be felt today as the PS4 dominates the charts month after month. Sony might be celebrating now, but they too found themselves in a similar situation last generation when they tried to launch their PS3 amid controversy, a high price point, and bad marketing.

While Microsoft are in the middle of rehabilitating their image following the Xbox One DRM debacle and Sony implemented what they'd learned from the relative failure of the PS3 to improve the PS4, at least those companies are still releasing consoles. Back in 1995, SEGA were one of "the big two" when it came to console gaming (along with Nintendo) but some appalling marketing decisions with the Saturn put the company into a tailspin that it never truly recovered from, resulting in the early abandonment of their next console, the Dreamcast, and ultimately them retreating from the hardware game entirely.

Prior to the launch of the Saturn, SEGA announced that the console would be released one week before the new Sony console, the PlayStation, in September 1995. Whether it was out of fear of the new kid on the block, or just an incredibly misguided marketing ploy, somebody at SEGA HQ decided it would be a good idea to surprise everybody by launching the Saturn in May as a big surprise. To everybody. Including gamers. And retailers. And developers. And publishers. Oh and forget about developing for the 32X, that's so last month.

Yes, the SEGA Saturn launched in the May of 1995 but as far as most gamers were concerned it wasn't expected until September and so they didn't have chance to save up or warn their parents it was coming. That didn't really matter so much though, since most retailers were also unaware that the console was coming and so their stores weren't readily equipped to take on the launch of a brand new console five months before they were expecting it. Although, upon reflection, perhaps they were worried about nothing since there were no games ready for the system since SEGA also failed to alert game developers of the change in release date meaning that there were only six games available at launch and all of them were made by SEGA.

In one fell swoop, SEGA managed to upset practically every retailer, every game developer and publisher that wasn't them, and confuse gamers around the world. It was basically the gaming equivalent of sending all of your Christmas cards out in June and then wondering why nobody bothered sending you one back.

The Saturn wasn't quite the straw that broke the camel's back, but the decision to swerve everybody with a phony release date for the console crippled it and allowed the PlayStation to clean up when it was finally released on the day that Sony told people it would be released in September. SEGA didn't attempt any such chicanery with their next console, the Dreamcast, but the damage to their brand had already been done, and in doing so, given Sony a chance to find footing within the console market. The PlayStation 2 went on to be the best selling console of all time, and the Dreamcast lasted less than two years on the market before SEGA abandoned hardware altogether to concentrate on just developing and publishing games for other consoles.

Creating a Method for International SEO

The term "localization" has become increasingly common over the past few years and with good reason: in this digital age, more and more companies are marketing their products and services to people all around the globe, and the most effective way of connecting with those people is by making certain that content is understandable and appropriate for the target audience. In essence, localization involves localizing content for different readers, and that includes SEO content.

Developing the most effective SEO content is not simple. In fact, this vital aspect of Internet marketing is usually best left for SEO professionals. But if you are in the position of needing to handle this task on your own - or even if you simply want to have a clearer understanding of the process that an SEO professional will be doing for you - you've come to the right place.

Here then are steps involved in creating a method for SEO localization.

1. The first step involves having your content translated for your target audience. Never trust machine translations or inexperienced linguists. Instead, hire a professional translator who is not only fluent in the target language, but familiar with your industry as well. Make sure that the content is localized. Details such as use of appropriate measurement methods, currency, and location-specific language and jargon are all important considerations. Remember also that some images and even colors may not be appropriate in certain countries and cultures, so your translator should be thoroughly familiar with the target culture to ensure that your content is acceptable and entirely appropriate.

2. Choose a CMS (content management system) that is "friendly" for multilingual websites. There are several of them available that provide multilingual SEO structure with a shared database, such as WordPress and Magento, for example. Using the type of a CMS with a shared database will allow you to make future changes to any section of the site and have the change automatically made to all versions of the site.

3. Determine whether or not you need a website host located in the same country in which your translated site will appear. If you decide to do so, it won't necessarily help your local SEO, but it will improve the speed of your site to a certain extent.

4. Obtain TLDs (top-level domains) for the specific countries in which you plan to do business. (If you're not familiar with this term, a TLD is the last portion of a domain name, such as.com,.org,.net, etc.)

5. Utilize a keyword research tool to determine the most effective keywords for your product or service in the target country (i.e., the country where your translated content will be read by potential customers). Google AdWords Keywords Tool allows you to search by language and target country, but there are others available as well.

6. Integrate these keywords into your translated content. Remember that the old method of "keyword stuffing" is now easily detectable by search engines, so avoid that at all costs. Instead, make sure that your keywords are spread throughout your content in a logical manner, while also paying attention to good grammar and spelling throughout.

7. Utilize hreflang tags on your website to allow readers to land on content pages that have been translated into their language, including content presented in certain dialects or with regional variations in language. Google provides additional information on hreflang tags on their support page: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en

SEO is an art and science unto itself. If you are not well versed in SEO, we strongly encourage you to obtain the services of an SEO expert, and preferably one who has experience in international SEO. When it comes to connecting to potential customers in countries around the globe, having an experienced international SEO expert onboard can make all the difference in the world!

At MI Translations, our commitment to our customers is as unwavering as our dedication to providing accurate, precise translation services. We have been able to distinguish ourselves because of our team and the processes we employ to guide our work.
