Naturist visitors to England can find accommodations from camp sites to luxury spas spread across the country, yet you'll find most around the southwest. Many properties remain open year-round, however England’s mild summers offer the best chance to camp out or enjoy garden sunbathing.
Camping
For the best chance of experiencing warm weather, visit one of the favored summer vacation regions in England -- the West Country. Carbeil Holiday Park in Cornwall has six-berth holiday homes just a 10-minute walk from clothing-optional Downderry Beach. Guests also can enjoy the park's outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, sauna and bar. Close to the surfing mecca of Newquay, Southleigh Manor’s accommodation is in log cabins, available year-round, or tents and mobile homes in summer. The members-only site has a child-friendly policy for families. The site is close to naturist Polgaver Beach and has a heated outdoor pool and sauna. In Devon, Acorns Retreat is on a secluded 13-acre farm, with two mobile homes for hire as well as pitches for tents and RVs. On the doorstep of the Dartmoor National Park, the retreat also has a sauna, restaurant and access to the naturist beach at Budleigh Salterton.
Clover Spa & Hotel
Britain’s only naturist hotel and spa opened in 2011 in Birmingham, the self-styled second city. Set in a 1920s private home, Clover Spa & Hotel is a seven-room hotel with a spa, steam room and plunge pool. The hotel maintains a nonsmoking environment and, like most naturist resorts, a no-camera policy. The hotel even caters to business travelers, but the main thrust is the luxury spa facilities where guests receive a range of treatments from a full-body massage to grooming. While the Clover Spa & Hotel is in a largely residential area, a half-hour ride on the 907 bus takes you right into the Birmingham city center, noted for its markets and curry houses.
Cottages
For those who want their own private kitchen and amenities, Country Cottages manages a roster of naturist self-catering cottages across England, with the possibility to book a group of cottages for large parties. Lodging ranges from elegant country manor houses to smaller properties with private gardens in remote areas. In Wisbeck, Cambridgeshire, Croft Country Club dates back to the early 1990s and places an emphasis on its entertainment package, with planned social events and live music monthly. Ideal for the active naturist, the club organizes swimming, golf, volleyball and even Sunday-morning clay pigeon shooting. Most rooms are in log cabins, but places are available for campers.
Men Only
Adam’s Retreat near Banbury, Oxford, is open year-round, with bed-and-breakfast lodging or day visits, and a clothing-optional policy for first-time visitors. Guests are treated to luxury suites with breakfast included. Number 3, in Devon, offers naturist B&B packages in double or communal rooms, continental breakfast included. Visitors can unwind in the hot tub and summerhouse or stroll the on-site woodland. Several naturist beaches are within walking distance, including Petitor and Wild Pear Beaches.
