Though Microsoft Outlook can manage all of your Gmail email, it is not setup to deal with Google Calender or Google Tasks natively. Fortunately, Google has created a software package called Google Apps Sync for Microsoft Outlook that bridges the gap and allows you to create items on your Task list in the Google Cloud Server that then sync and appear in Outlook. You can also import items from Outlook to your Google Apps Sync profile and edit them there or on the Gmail website.
Download Google Apps Sync from the Google Apps Sync download page and press the "Run" button to install it.
Allow Google Apps Sync to run. It runs automatically after it downloads and installs into your Outlook installation. Enter your Google email address and password when it prompts you for them. Check the "Remember me" box if you do not want to enter this information each time you run Outlook. Press the "Continue" button.
Check the box labeled "Import data from an existing profile" when Google Apps Sync asks you if you want to import data. Select the Outlook profile you want to sync with Google from the drop-down list. Check the boxes next to the items you want to sync: Email messages, Deleted messages, Junk email, Contacts, Calendars, Notes, journal entries and tasks. Check the "Notes, journal entries and tasks" box to sync the to-do list. Only import data the first time you run Google Apps, or you may end up with multiple entries for the same item in your calender or to-do list. Press the "Create Profile" button.

Click the lowercase "g" with the arrows surrounds it in your system tray and click the option to "Start Microsoft Outlook." Choose the Google Apps Sync profile from the drop-down list and push the "OK" button. Allow Google Apps Sync to sync your Gmail account, including your calender and to-do list, with Outlook.
