Before you can send an email, the email server requires at least one critical piece of information. That is the email address of the recipient---the person to whom you wish to send the email. If the recipient is someone you have emailed before, chances are the person's email address is in your list of contacts. If not, you will need to create the mail recipient.
Open or log on to your email server.
Click the button labeled "New" or click the link labeled "Compose Mail." Either will create a new blank email.
Notice that the flashing cursor automatically appears in the field marked "To." Click "To." This will open a list of your contacts---people you have emailed previously.
If the intended recipient's name is in this list, click it. That person's email address will automatically appear in the "To" field of your email. You are now ready to complete and send your email. Otherwise, continue to step 5.
Study the person's written or typed email address. In the "To" field, type the address exactly as it appears. Include any special characters, such as an underscore between the first and last name. Do not leave any spaces. Make sure to include the @ sign, which appears above the "2" on your keyboard.
