Different Basketball Prep Schools

College and professional basketball are big business. As both have become growing enterprises, the hunt to find and obtain the best athletes has become cutthroat. This mentality has trickled down to high schools where grooming these athletes to become college and professionals has turned into a battle to find the best youth athletes in the nation.

What are prep schools?
Prep schools are basically high schools that recruit and bring in talent both locally and from around the country. (Prep schools usually have boarding houses for teens that come from out of town.) These prep schools generally have rich basketball traditions that inspire kids to come from all over the U.S.

Different Basketball Prep Schools
Which schools are the best
Traditionally rich basketball prep schools are located all over the country. New Jersey attracts athletes from all over the New York and New Jersey areas with St. Patrick's and St. Anthony's. Rice of New York has attracted a number of future NBA players. Oak Hill Academy in Virginia is where a number of current NBA stars attended, including Carmelo Anthony. Findlay College Prep in Las Vegas, Nev. is a growing program as well.

Tournaments
These schools generally get a lot of exposure through national television. Teams travel around the country to various tournaments to play against the best competition in the nation. These tournaments help further boost the profile of these high schools' basketball programs and promote prep basketball around the United States. One such tournament is the ESPN RISE National High School Invitational.
