Few things beat playing a game of basketball outside. You feel the sunshine on your skin and hear the squeaking of the ball as players pass it around. It lets you burn off calories, release tension and spend time with your family. There are also options other than a standard basketball game. Outdoor basketball games are suitable for all ages and even can be used in a basketball-themed birthday party.
Line Basketball
In line basketball, teams are divided into two groups. Line up each team and assign every player a number. Alternate the numbers, making one team the even team and the other the odd team. Place all the even numbers in one hat and the odds in another hat before randomly drawing one number from each hat. The two players drawn must run down the length of the court and shoot until one player makes a basket. They sit on the bench and you draw two new numbers. After all the players have shot, the team with the most baskets wins.
Build an Obstacle Course
Create a basketball obstacle course on your court or around the basketball hoop. Arrange plastic traffic cones and use old tires, a sandbox and anything else you have lying around. Divide the players into two teams. One player from each team must run around the obstacle course at the same time and shoot a basket at the end. Draw a line on the ground to show players where they shoot. Once a player shoots the ball, the next player on that team goes. The team that gets all players through the obstacle course and back to the starting line is the winner.

That person goes to the back of the line, while the other player is out of the game. Every time two players go to the line, the person who makes a basket first stays in the game and the other is eliminated. The winner is the last player still in the game.
