Planning Christmas Party for Your Office

Say the words, office Christmas party and many things come to mind. Some events are quite serious year end reflections on how the company performed the past twelve months while still others are about nothing but making merry. Many office parties have become infamous, with bad behaviour, usually centred on alcohol where sometimes employee actions can become quite embarrassing to the bosses and where even the boss's behaviours are in question.

The Planning Process

When planning an office Christmas party, many things have to be taken into consideration. First, what type of office party is desired and second, how much money is there to work with. If the party is one that is held on site after work is completed for the weekday, usually snacks and some alcohol is involved, and sometimes little else. If that type of party is the right one for your office, there is little planning involved outside of making sure that employees bring their own booze and some type of snack food to share with others. This would be the low end office Christmas party.

Other companies do a holiday luncheon where instead of one hour the event can last the rest of the day. The start of the time is a great luncheon, either prepared by the employees themselves or one where everyone puts money together and hires someone else to prepare the food. Funny gift exchanges and company purchased door prizes usually round out one of these events. Employees have fun, only work half a day and a creative committee can plan other events such as prizes for the best decorated cubicle or door.
