Sometimes a Facebook friend monopolizes your homepage news feed, and the content of other users does not get through. If you want to quietly ignore that user's updates, put her on your hidden list. Your friend will still be able to see your updates, unless she hides you as well from her own account.
News Feed
Hiding a friend on Facebook will stop her posts from appearing in the news feed on your homepage. When she updates her status, uploads photos or is tagged in a post, you will not see any stories about it. Any recent posts from the friend will also be removed from your news feed unless or until you unhide the friend.
Friendship Status
Putting someone on your hidden list does not sever the Facebook friendship. You can still communicate via chat or private messaging with the other user, and she still appears on your friend list to anyone with viewing privileges. You will also be permitted to write on her wall and she can still visit your profile and write on your wall or comment on photos.
Wall Access
When you hide a friend on Facebook, you still have the same access to her profile as you did before, including her wall. If you decide you do want to see the friend's posts, click on her name in your friend list to be directed to her profile and view her wall. Her posts, including status updates and comments from friends, will appear in chronological order.
Notifications
Your friend is never notified when you put her on your list of hidden people. As far as she is concerned, your friendship is business as usual. Likewise, none of your other friends get a notification about someone being added to your list of hidden people. The same applies to removing a Facebook user from your hide list; only you are aware of your actions.
