What are Facebook Deals

Put deals onto a Facebook Fan Page for an establishment you own once you merge it with a Facebook Place another user has designated as the establishment. Facebook Places uses your establishment's GPS coordinates to allow users to check-in to the establishment, but until you claim a Facebook Place as being yours, the place page someone else created and the fan page you created remain separate. Placing a deal on the merged page makes the deal available both to existing fans of the page, and any fan or non-fan who checks into the place.

Step 1
Log in to Facebook. Click the "Account" drop-down menu and click the "Use Facebook as Page" option; click the name of the page you merged with a Facebook Place.

Step 2
Click "Create Deal" in the "Marketing" pane. Click the deal type -- "Individual" or "Friend," for example -- and give the deal a summary and description. You might choose an "Individual" deal, for instance, and input "25% off" into the "Summary" field and "Show phone to waitress" into the "Description" field.

Step 3

Set the date and time the deal begins and ends, and optionally set a limit on the number of people who can claim it. Click "Submit Deal" and wait for a notification from Facebook that the deal is approved. Once this happens, click the notification and click "Share With Connections."
