Become a Fitness Magazine Cover Model

People frequently buy fitness magazine to learn new ways of exercising, read up on healthy recipes, examine ads for new fitness equipment, read encouraging articles about the best way to get physically fit and note recommendations from other people's success stories published in the magazine. An elegantly sculpted model is without a doubt the star attraction of the fitness magazine cover, and makes an effective launching point to enter other modeling venues outside of the fitness industry. Be prepared to invest a lot of time and energy to become a fitness magazine cover model.

Eat right, get plenty of exercise and care for your skin. More than other models, fitness models must
showcase lean, toned muscles and overall admirable physiques. Six packs, substantial biceps, and trim thighs are practically requirements for fitness models, and this especially true for models on fitness magazine covers. A fitness magazine's focus on physical appearance means that you'll also need supple skin, white teeth and healthy hair.

Flip through fitness magazines, analyzing each magazine's focus and model choice for the cover shot. Bodybuilder magazines may feature much more muscled models than sport-specific fitness magazines, such as a yoga magazine or golf magazine. Wellness-focused fitness magazines may feature more subtly toned models on the cover. Focus your energy on establishing connections with magazines whose models' physiques most resemble your own.

Network with photographers and casting agents for fitness magazines that you've identified as potential targets. Magazines sometimes build lasting relationships with preferred models known for consistent appearance, performance and professionalism. As the magazine's editorial and advertising staff becomes more familiar with you, you'll gradually garner more gigs--including the coveted cover shot.

Connect with smaller or local fitness magazines. Sometimes larger magazines may be reluctant to concede the cover to lesser-established models, so gain valuable experience and resume credits by working with lesser-known fitness magazines. You'll stand more of a chance of scoring the cover, and can show agents, casting managers and photographers that you're cover model material by sending them complimentary copies of the resulting magazine.
