Care Gift for Your Boyfriend

Contrary to popular belief, all long-distance relationships are not doomed to fail. In fact, a 2013 Cornell University study entitled "Absence Makes the Communication Grow Fonder: Geographic Separation, Interpersonal Media, and Intimacy in Dating Relationships" by L. Crystal Jiang and Jeffrey T. Hancock, shows that college students who are dating long distance often have better communication skills and intimacy levels than couples who see each other every day. One way to increase your bond when you and your boyfriend can't be together is to send him a thoughtful care package.

Send Him a Smile
To keep your relationship strong, it's important to be creative and think outside the box. With that in mind, there are a variety of things you can send your boyfriend that will make him laugh and feel loved. Consider things like a girlfriend pillow or a stuffed version of yourself that he can snuggle up to at night. You can also create a customized bobblehead doll or make love coupons he can redeem the next time you're together. If he's a reader, consider sending him a personalized romance novel.

Send a Piece of Your Heart
One cute and creative way to remind your boyfriend that he'll always hold a place in your heart is to send him a variety of heart-themed treats. Find recipes for heart-shaped cookies or cakes. Novice bakers can easily make a pan of brownies and use a cookie cutter to shape them into hearts. If you hate baking, you can find heart-shaped sprinkles at craft stores and use them to decorate purchased sugar cookies or cupcakes.

Worth a Thousand Words
Photos are a great way to remind your boyfriend of the good times you've had together. Therefore, a photo gift is a great addition to a care package. Find a good picture of you and your boyfriend from a special day you shared and turn that into a beautiful memory for him. Be sure to tailor the gift to match his personality and interests. If he loves his phone and spends a lot of time texting, use the picture to create a phone case for him. If he's a runner or biker, personalize a water bottle. Many websites offer different personalized photo gifts from which to choose.

Create a Date Night
When your boyfriend is gone, you might feel like you never get to go on fun dates anymore. However, you can use your care package to create your own long-distance date night. Get two copies of the same DVD and send one to him or, if you are used to streaming movies online, create a set of movie tickets with the name and time of a show you both want to see. Send those to him with a bag of microwave popcorn and some boxes of candy. Then the two of you can watch the movie at the same time while talking on the phone or using an online video chat.
