Gay teens might have trouble finding health care providers, counselors and educators who provide help in a supportive, non-judgmental way when it comes to problems that arise from being gay in our culture. Several organizations in Massachusetts offer help for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender teens in need.
Sidney Borum Jr. Health Center
The Sidney Borum Jr. Health Center in Boston provides a range of services to teens and young adults, ages 12 to 29, including primary health care, counseling, substance abuse treatment, psychiatric care, birth control, HIV testing, care for HIV-positive youth, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections. When necessary, teens are referred to specialists for additional treatment or services. The health center provides care for gay and transgender teens in an accepting, supportive environment. Walk-in appointments are available and a sliding fee scale is available for teens without health insurance coverage.
Safe Homes at the Bridge
