Add Blogger Facebook Like Button

The Facebook Like button allows blog or website visitors to recommend and share the post or Web page with their Facebook friends. Each time a reader clicks the Like button, Facebook posts a link to the blog post or Web page on the user’s Facebook profile page and homepage News Feed. If you run a Blogger blog, you can remove the Facebook Like button from your blog posts by editing the blog template’s HTML code.

Locating the Facebook Like Button
The Facebook Like button displays in an iFrame window on the blog post. Most bloggers place the Like button toward the top of the blog post so that it’s in a prominent position. To remove the Facebook Like button, you need to locate the HyperText Markup Language code that displays the Like button in the iFrame window on your blog post.

Accessing the Facebook Like Button
Blogger templates include an HTML editor function so that bloggers can modify the design of their blog templates. To access the HTML code for your template, sign in to Blogger and click the “Design” link under the blog title. Click on the “Edit HTML” link in the navigation menu to open the template’s HTML design code. You will find the design code in the box under the Edit Template heading. Click the “Expand Widgets” check box to reveal the complete HTML code for the blog.

Removing the Facebook Like Button
After you’ve accessed your blog’s HTML code, remove the Facebook Like button by deleting the HTML code snippet for the button’s iFrame window. The code looks like this:

<iframe src="http://www.facebook.com/widgets/like.php?href=http://www.example.com/page.html"

scrolling="no" frameborder="0"
style="border:none; width:400px; height:30px" ></iframe>
Find the code by pressing the "F3" button on your computer keyboard. Paste the first line of this code snippet into the search box. This automatically scrolls your browser to the position of the Facebook Like button code. Select and highlight the entire code snippet and delete it. Click the “Save Template” button below the Edit Template box to save your changes. This removes the Facebook Like button from your blog.

Considerations
Before deleting the Facebook Like button, bear in mind that the button can be a useful tool for promoting your blog. Each time a visitor clicks the button, he publicizes your blog post to his entire Facebook friends list. This publicity can increase the overall number of visitors to your blog and encourage new readers to visit your blog regularly. If you don’t want the Facebook Like button on your blog posts, consider using the Blogger Share Buttons tool that includes Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites. You can add the Blogger Share Buttons by clicking “Edit” in the Blog Posts section of the Add and Arrange Page Elements page in Blogger’s Design section. Click the “Blogger Share Buttons” check box to add this feature to each of your blog posts.
