Facebook Mobile Code Issues

Facebook's Mobile text service allows you to update your status via text message and receive text message notifications on any phone, so long as that phone is linked to your account and supported by Facebook. You'll have to send a text message to Facebook to receive a confirmation code. There are only a handful of reasons why your confirmation code won't arrive.

Unsupported Carrier
Facebook does not support text message services for all carriers. When you first enable your phone, you should have had to choose from a drop-down list of carriers. If your carrier is not listed there, there is no way to use your account with your phone. If your phone number has been ported from an unsupported carrier to a supported one, you may still have trouble receiving a confirmation code from Facebook.

Text Errors
When you send the activation message to Facebook, make sure that you have entered the Facebook number correctly -- the short number for text messages is 32665. Do not include the quotes around "f" when you send your initial text message. If your phone includes a signature by default, do not include it in the text message. Additional characters in the text message can confuse the system.

Activation Alternatives
When you send your first text message, the message should only include the letter "F." If your carrier is supported, "F" (without quotes) was the only thing in your text message and the message sent to the right number, Facebook recommends you should try sending either "on" or "fb" instead. Do not include the quotes or any other punctuation in your text message.

Mobile Alternatives
If your phone doesn't work with Facebook's text messaging service, you can try another alternative to accessing Facebook from your phone. Certain smartphones, such the iPhone, Droid, Blackberry and Windows phones, offer custom applications for your phone; a list of these phones is available at Facebook.com/mobile. If your phone has browser, you can access Facebook on the Web for mobile devices at m.facebook.com. Facebook also offers a service that allows you to upload via e-mail; you can get your Facebook mobile email address at Facebook.com/mobile.
