How to Use Facebook Promote Button

Businesses, organizations and individuals can use Facebook to promote their service or cause. With a potential audience of millions of people all over the world, creating a Facebook page is a free and convenient way to increase your local and international exposure. The website offers businesses and service providers a variety of ways to promote their businesses.
About

If you are an administrator of a Facebook page, you can create a page for your organization or service. Once your page is up and running, you can promote it in two ways. You can advertise on Facebook, which exposes your brand or service to a new audience, and you can create a promote button for external websites that connects existing fans to your Facebook page, allowing them to find out more about your brand, interact with other fans and stay updated on your latest news.

Internal

When you have created your Facebook page, you can advertise it to a wider audience on the website by clicking on the "Promote your page" button on the left-hand side. Using the template provided, or customizing as you wish, you can create a small advertisement that Facebook will show to other users when they are browsing the website. You can choose which demographic you want to target, specifying country, gender, age, relationship status and education or work history.

External

Facebook allows you to create an HTML button, also called a "badge," to place on external websites, such as company sites or blogs, that link to your Facebook page. You can do this by going to www.facebook.com/badges and choosing the "Page Badge" option. Once you have customized your badge, Facebook will give you an HTML code that you can paste into your website or blog. When readers click on the badge, it will take them to your Facebook page and they can participate in your community there.

Considerations

Creating badges that promote your Facebook page on other websites is free of charge, but you will have to pay to advertise your page within Facebook. There is no set fee for advertising and the amount you spend will depend on your budget. You can choose to pay a fee for every user that clicks on your ad, an option known as CPC, or you can pay for every 1,000 times Facebook shows your ad, the CPM option. You can also set a daily fee limit, enabling you to stay in control of how much you are spending on Facebook advertising.
