Facebook is one of the most popular social networking site available on the Internet today. Millions of people log on each day and share photos, status updates and videos with their friends and family. Making a unique status update or comment to a friend's wall can be done by using symbols such as a heart to show your love. Using a variety of methods, all located on your computer keyboard and Window's character map, can have you making interesting and fun symbols anytime.
Log in to your Facebook account by entering your username and password.
Hold down the "Alt" and "Fn" key at the same time and type a number, one through 20, corresponding to a specific symbol. If using a desktop computer use the number pad to type in a number. If using a laptop, make sure to hit the "NumLk" key to type a number located on the right side of the keyboard. The numbers located at the top of the keyboard will not work, you must use the numbers above the letters after pressing the "NumLk" key.
Type "Alt" "Fn" and "3" to create a heart. Typing a "1" with the "Alt" "Fn" keys will create a small smiley face in white. "2" will create a smiley face in black. "4" will make a diamond. "5" will make a club. "6" will make a spade. "7" will make a large dot or period. "8" will make a square with a tiny circle in the middle. "9" is a hollow circle. "10" is a dark square with a circle in the center. "11" is the female symbol while "12" is the male symbol. "13" is a music note. "14" is a double music note. "15" is the sun, "16" a side triangle pointing right, "17" is the same triangle but pointed left. "18" is an arrow pointing both up and down, "19" is two !! (exclamation points) and finally "20" is the paragraph symbol. You may also copy and paste these symbols from the website, by highlighting the symbol, right-click and selecting copy, right-clicking again to paste into a status window or wall post.
Type a ">" with a "3" beside it to automatically make a heart anywhere on Facebook alternatively. A character map located under "System Tools" in a Windows based system will allow you to copy and paste any symbol in Facebook by selecting the Wingdings or Webdings fonts.
