Facebook's social networking tools enable you to share a variety of content with your friends. For example, you can share YouTube video clips on the site's news feed or on a friend's wall, or send one to a friend via Facebook's mailbox feature. No matter how you choose to share the YouTube clip, you can occasionally run into problems.
Embed Feature Not Enabled
To allow you to share a YouTube video clip with your Facebook friends by embedding it on your Facebook page or theirs, the owner of the YouTube video must have enabled the "embed" feature. Some video clip owners do not wish to allow people to share their clips over the Internet. These clips can be viewed only on the video clip owner's YouTube site. When you attempt to play a clip that cannot be embedded, you will see a message telling you that you must view the video on the YouTube site.
Malformed URL
Sometimes the YouTube video clip's URL will include additions that should be removed when you copy it. A malformed URL is often the culprit when you can't share YouTube clips on Facebook. Make sure the URL is properly formatted. Click the "Share" button under the video to reveal the accurately formatted URL.
Space Bar Issue
Facebook recommends manually typing the URL into a field that allows you to embed videos on their site. However, you may prefer to copy and paste the URL if it is too long. When you paste a URL into a Facebook address field, you cannot simply click "attach." You must press the space bar after you paste the URL, so that Facebook actually attaches the video to your post. If you do not press the space bar, you may only be sharing the video's URL, not the clip itself.
Repeat Post
At times you may post a video on the news feed, on someone's wall, or in a message without knowing whether Facebook accepted the video. When you attempt to click "Attach" again, Facebook alerts you that you just recently posted the same video clip. This feature is used to prevent spam posts. Simply check your profile, the news feed or your mailbox to ensure that the video clip was, in fact, posted.
