The list of your Facebook friends generally appears on the left side of your profile. As the owner of your profile, you can always see the list, but others may not if you change your privacy settings. If someone tells you she cannot see your friend list, the most likely cause is a restricted privacy status. Know that if you change the privacy for your comprehensive friend list, it affects any of the friend lists you manually create as well.
Added Privacy
Hiding your friend list is an added level of security for your content on the social networking site. Even if your wall is hidden from view, if a person can see your friend list, she is able to access your friends' profiles, which may reveal your posts on friends' walls. You cannot control the privacy of your posts on a friend's wall, so the best you can do is make it harder for people to determine who your friends are.
Reveal List to Others
Your friend list privacy settings are easily changed if you decide to share it with more people. Go to your personal profile page and click the "Edit Profile" button in the top right corner of the screen. Click on the "Friends and Family" tab link in the left column of the screen. Select the blue arrow immediately to the right of the "Featured Friends" list to reveal privacy options and determine who can see your friend list on your profile. Choose "Public" to make the list available to all Facebook users.

Even if you hide your friend list from other users, you should always have full access to your friend list and see it on your profile. If you don't, your account is experiencing a glitch and you should contact Facebook about the issue. Visit the "Help Center" link via the "Account" link at the top of any Facebook screen, and choose the "Report a Bug" link just beneath the search field.
