Change Privacy Type of Facebook Group

Facebook groups allow members with similar interests to connect and share in a small setting. Any Facebook user can create a group. To provide a more private experience, place membership restrictions on your group. Group features like shared photo albums and collaboration on group documents may also make privacy a necessity. As a group admin, you can choose from any of three privacy settings, depending on the needs of your group. As your needs change, alter the privacy settings to allow members to get the most out of the group.

Log in to your Facebook account using your email address and password.

Click the name of the group you wish to edit in the left-hand column of your home page.

Click the "Edit Group" button located in the right-hand corner of the page.

Click the "Privacy" drop-down menu and select the desired setting. Choose "Open" to allow all Facebook members to view and join the group, make all group content visible and make the group searchable. Choose "Closed" to make the group name and member list visible, but restrict the visibility of group content. Choose "Secret" to prevent the group from appearing in search results and restrict the visibility of group content to members only.
