When you attempt to check-in to a place on Facebook using your mobile device, you may sometimes notice the establishment you're visiting is not mentioned among the existing list of places the site has archived for your GPS location. Create a new Facebook "Place" so you can let your friends know your whereabouts -- and to save the next person who tries to check-in from your location a few moments of his time.
Sign in to the Facebook mobile application, and tap or click the "Home" button. Tap or click the "Places" icon; then the "Check In" button.
Type the name of the place you want to create -- and, if you'd like, an accompanying description -- into the blank field at the top of your screen and tap or click "Enter." Tap or click the "Add" button to add your place to Facebook.
Input a description of what you're doing in the field that appears below the new place's name. Tap or click the "Tag Friends" button to tag friends who are with you; then tap or click "Check In" to check in to the new place.
