Limit News Feed on Facebook

Facebook friends come from all walks of life; it's possible that you might post pictures that are better suited to your close friends than to Great Aunt Sally. Luckily, you can change your permissions in Facebook to specify who can view items that are posted in your news feed. In the Facebook privacy settings, you can limit the visibility of your news feed to only friends, only members of some of your friend groups or only specific users.

Navigate to the Facebook website and log in to your Facebook account.

Click the "Account" tab in the upper-right of the program window and click "Privacy Settings" in the drop-down menu. Your current Facebook news feed publishing settings are listed under the "Sharing on Facebook" heading.

Click the "Customize settings" link to set access settings for your news feed. A new window opens that displays your current settings.

Click the drop-down menu next to "Posts by me" to specify who should be able to see items that you post in your own news feed. Click a group in the list to restrict visibility to only users in that group. Click "Custom Privacy" if you would prefer to restrict access to you only or if you want to hide items from specific users.

Click the drop-down menu next to any other categories of information that you want to restrict on your news feed and specify the desired level of access. At a minimum, you'll probably want to change your access settings for "Photos and videos you're tagged in" and "Can see Wall posts by friends" to restrict visibility of news feed items that others post about you.

Uncheck the box next to "Friends can post on my Wall" if you want to make it impossible for anyone other than you to contribute to your news feed.
