Someone -- likely Martin Mull -- once stated that "writing about music is like dancing about architecture." When you are chatting on Facebook, you may sometimes find this quote to be frustratingly true. To help express yourself, consider including musical note symbols in your relevant Facebook exchanges. In addition to chats, you can also include these symbols in your status updates. Depending on your mood and desires, you can include a single eighth note or beamed eighth notes.
Place your cursor in the Facebook field where you wish to put the note or notes. Press the "Num Lock" key on your keyboard if your Num Lock is not already on.
Press the "Alt" key and hold it down. Do not release this key until you have entered the code of your choice.
Type either "13" (for a single eighth note) or "14" (for beamed eighth notes) using the number pad on the right side of your keyboard. If you attempt to use the numbers above the section where you type on the keyboard, this process does not work.
Release the "Alt" key. You should see the symbol you chose appear at the cursor. If you wish to enter another note or pair of notes, press down the "Alt" key and enter the applicable code, then release the "Alt" key again.
