If you're a Facebook member, you may realize that your name is likely to appear on other members' pages for a variety of reasons. You may be tagged in a photo, post or story or mentioned in a comment. Other Facebook users are likely to connect with you through Facebook's features or applications. If you're uncomfortable being linked to another member's page, you can take steps to remove your name and photo. It's up to you to decide if you want to remove yourself on an as-needed basis or permanently prevent any future occurrences.
Log into your Facebook account.
Click the "Notifications" icon in the upper-left corner of any page to see a list of all recent activity involving your account, or scroll through your News Feed to see friends' activities according to importance or recency. Locate the story from which you wish to remove yourself.
Click the "Remove Tag" option that appears along with the photo or video you wish to remove.
Permanently Restrict Users
Adjust your privacy settings to permanently remove your name from another member's pages. Log into your Facebook account and select the "Privacy Settings" option from the "Account" drop-down menu. Click the "Customize Settings" link located under the Sharing on Facebook section.
Customize your privacy settings for all options located under the Things I Share section. Select the "Custom" option from the drop-down menu that appears next to each and enter the name of the member you wish to restrict in the "Hide This From" box that appears. Click "Save Setting."
Scroll down to the Things Others Share section on the resulting page. Customize your privacy settings for the Photos and Videos You're Tagged In and Permission to Comment on Your Wall Posts sections. Select the "Custom" option from the drop-down menu and enter the name of the member you wish to restrict in the "Hide This From" box that appears. Click "Save Setting."
Permanently Block Users
Log into your Facebook account and select the "Privacy Settings" option from the "Account" drop-down menu in the upper-right corner of any page.
Click the "Edit Your Lists" link located under the Block Lists section on the resulting page.
Begin typing the name of the user you wish to block in the space provided and click the "Block This User" button. Select the user from the list that appears and click "Block" to permanently prevent the user from accessing your pages or referencing your account.
