On Facebook, a tag is attached to a post, comment or note to alert a friend that you have mentioned him. In posts and comments, you can use the new, automated tagging feature to add a friend's name as a hyperlink within the text. Once you've tagged or mentioned a friend, Facebook automatically notifies him.
Log in to Facebook and click anywhere in the comment box at the top of the page that says "What's on your mind?"
Start typing your Facebook friend's name, remembering to capitalize the first letter of each name. Suggestions appear in a drop-down menu.
Click your Facebook friend's name when it appears to insert it as a tag in your comment. Type the rest of your comment and hit "Enter" to post the comment with the tag.
