If you want to contact someone via text message but don't have his phone number, you might be able to use Facebook's messaging tool. Users who have their mobile phones registered with Facebook can receive text messages if a user on the Facebook website enables the SMS option on a new message.
Log into your Facebook account at facebook.com.
Click the chat bubble icon to the right of the Facebook logo at the top of the page. This opens the "Messages" drop-down box. Click "Send a New Message."
Type the name of the person you want to send a message to in the "To:" field. If you want, you can partially type the name into the box and click the person's name when it shows up in the suggested results.
Enter your message in the "Message:" box and click the check box next to the tiny cell phone icon. This tells Facebook to send the message as a text message and as a Facebook message.
Click the "Send" button to send your message.
