List Restaurant on Google

Google provides a free local business listing service, known as Google Places for Business. People searching Google for nearby restaurants will see your restaurant’s listing, whether they’re using the main Google search page or Google Maps. You can provide an enticing description, categories, photos, videos and other detailed information to help guests find your restaurant. Google verifies each listing with a phone call, text message or postcard sent to the phone number or address associated with your restaurant.

Open the Google Places for Business page at Google.com/PlacesForBusiness in your Web browser.

Sign in with a Google account. If you don’t have one, you can create one by clicking the “Sign Up for a New Google Account” link on the page.

Click the “Add New Business” button on the page that appears after you sign in.

Enter your restaurant’s address, official business name and ZIP code using the form on the page that appears. The map on the page automatically zooms to your restaurants address; you can click “Fix Incorrect Marker Location” and drag and drop the marker on the map to correct your restaurant’s location.

Enter your restaurant’s phone number, email address and website in the boxes on the page.

Provide a description of your restaurant, emphasizing what makes it special. Enter multiple categories for your business and then click “Next” to continue.

Examine the list of similar restaurants nearby and click “Claim Listing” if your restaurant is already listed on Google Maps. Click “Add Listing” if it isn’t. Only claim an existing listing if the address is correct.

Enter your restaurant’s hours of operation, available payment methods and other important details on the page that appears. You can also upload photos of your restaurant and link to YouTube videos of your restaurant. Click “Submit” when you’re finished.

Select a verification method. Click “By Phone” if you have access to the restaurant’s phone number or click “By SMS” if you can receive a text message at the restaurant’s phone number. You can also have a postcard sent to the restaurant’s address by clicking “By Postcard,” which takes two to three weeks. Click “Finish” after selecting a verification method.

Enter the PIN number Google sends you by phone, text message or postcard by selecting your restaurant listing on the Places for Business page and providing the PIN.
