Make Posts Private on Friend's Wall

By default, there is no way to mark posts on your friends' Facebook walls as private. However, a suitable alternative exists -- you can quickly post private messages on a friend's wall without prying eyes reading it. This trick is helpful when you're trading private messages with friends over the social network.

Go to the "Status" field on the Facebook home page. Click the area labeled "What's on your mind?"

Type the "@" symbol immediately followed by your friend's name, as it appears on Facebook. As you type a first name, a list automatically populates with possible choices. Keep typing or select the right name for your friend.

Type your message after the person's name. Add a space between the friend's name and your message.

Click the "Lock" icon below the "Status" field. You will have four options: "Everyone," "Friends of Friends," "Friends Only" and "Customize."

Select "Customize" from the drop-down list. A pop-up box will appear overlaid on the screen.

Select the "Specific People" option from the "These People" menu.

Type your friend's name again. As you type, you can select from the populated list. Click the "Save Setting" button when you're finished.

Click the "Share" button to post the message on both your wall and your friend's wall. The status message is visible for only your friend to read.
