Tips to Google Index Site

Google is the most widely used search engine and to appear in its search results a site must first be indexed by Google. Google will naturally try to find each site as it gains its own reputation online. There are many different ways to speed this process up. Google provides the tools to do it all no matter what type of site you have. The most popular website platforms will have additional support for indexing your site quickly.

Navigate to Google (google.com). Type "site:" and then your website URL into the search box and press "Enter." The result is all of your pages indexed by Google. Continue if this number is less than the amount of pages you have.

Perform a Google search for "Webmasters" and click the first result. Sign in with your Google account or create a new one from this page to access Google's webmaster tools.

Verify your website ownership by inserting the meta code Google generates for you into the header of your website, or by adding a blank file with the name generated for you. If you don't have much control over your meta tags, you'll need to choose the file option.

Create a sitemap for your site if one doesn't exist by using your website's sitemap functions or hosting tools commonly provided. Enter your sitemap URL into your Google webmaster settings. This allows quickest navigation of your site by Google bots.

Navigate to a URL submission site and submit your URL, page title, sitemap URL, category and any other required fields. Many of these sites will not require sign up.

Find websites that are familiar to your site's topics and that could benefit from information on your site. Get involved in discussions by responding to posts or comments on posts. Most comments are allowed to contain at least one URL so use a URL from your site that closely matches the topic when submitting comments.

Fix crawling errors detected by Google as soon as they're reported. Crawling errors can be fixed by deleting pages that no longer exist from the sitemap, deleting broken pages, or broken code in the page styling. Google crawl errors located on the webmaster's account page will contain the most accurate description of the exact crawling error.
