Tips to Sync Google Contacts

Syncing is a symmetrical transfer of data, from e-mail addresses and other contact information, to reminders and other schedule items. Syncing your cell phone and your Google account means that you will not only have a backup of the data in your phone, but also that you will always have convenient access to your contacts, calendars and other important data. Using syncing properly can make your daily activities much easier and more efficient.

Visit the Google Sync link at the bottom of this article to begin the process of syncing your cell phone and your Google account.

Select your phone from the list on the right side of the screen. Note that any phones using Windows Mobile are compatible with the service, as are most Sony Ericsson and Nokia models.

Back up the data on your phone. If you do not already know how to do this, the Google Mobile Sync page can help, or you can contact the manufacturer of your phone.

Click the "Set up Your Phone" link on the Google Mobile Sync page and follow the on-screen instructions for your specific phone to enable the communication between your Google account and your cell phone.

Use m.google.com as the sync server for your cell phone when prompted, and be sure to select all Google Sync services you want, such as e-mail, contacts and calendar. Note that not all services are available for all phones at this time.
