The Google Updater is a small non-intrusive program that automatically checks for updates for Google Pack software. The program notifies you only when a new software update is available and gives you the option to install it. If you prefer to update your Google software manually or don't want a notification window popping up periodically, then you can remove the Updates entirely through the Windows Registry editor.
Open Windows Registry
Click the "Start" menu and type "regedit" in the search box. Hit the "Enter" key to launch the Registry Editor.
Locate Google Update
Locate the following entry from the left sidebar:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Afterward, find "Google Update" on the right pane.
Delete Google Update
To remove Google Update from the Registry, right-click the name and choose the "Delete" option. When prompted, click the "Yes" button to confirm. Close the Registry Editor and reboot your computer when finished.
Warning
Deleting the Google Updater will not remove the software from your computer. It will still remain in a folder on the hard drive, usually listed as "GoogleUpdate.exe." You may want to manually delete it through Windows Explorer, however, removing the registry entry will stop it from loading into memory when you start your operating system.
