Tips to Use Google Calendar

Anyone with a Google account can use the free Google Calendar. You can share your calendar with friends and sync it across devices like a mobile phone or tablet computer. Because the calendar exists on Google's servers, you can access it from any computer with an Internet connection.

Go to Google.com/Calendar and log in to your Google Account to access the calendar for the first time.

Click on any date and time field to add an event or appointment. Type a name for the event in the "What" field and click "Create Event." Use the navigation buttons in the upper right to view the calendar by month, week or day. Use the arrow buttons in the upper left to scroll between dates. To create an event without navigating to the specific date, click "Create Event" in the upper left and enter the details.

Type an event name or a keyword in the Search field at top of page and click "Search My Calendars" to quickly look for scheduled events.

Click on the name of an event and click "Edit Event Details," if you want to invite other people to a calendar event. Click "Add" in the Guests section and enter the email addresses of people you want to invite. Click "Save" and choose whether to send invitations to the people you selected. If you decide to send invitations, then Google will send them to the email addresses you entered.

Click the arrow next to the name of your calendar in the left-hand menu and click "Share this Calendar," if you want other people to have access to your calendar. You can choose to allow public access or enter the email addresses of people you want to view your calendar. If entering individuals, you can grant different levels of access like whether they can make changes and see the details of all events as opposed to seeing only whether you are free or busy.

Add a Google Calendar app to your mobile device, if one is available. The calendar on your device will automatically sync. If your device does not have an app for the Google Calendar, you can still access it if your device has Internet access. Open the browser and go to the Google Calendar page.
