Google Docs is a Web-based online free service offered by Google. It offers a wide range of services including word processor, form, slideshow, spread sheet and data storage up to one GB. It allows users to create and edit the documents while collaborating with other users in real time. However, there are many other online Web applications available that provide you similar facilities to Google Docs.
Zoho
Zoho.com offers a suite of Web-based productivity and collaboration applications for business and home use. Zoho offers 22 applications like office Suite, Web conferencing, project management, CRM to mail and more. It allows you to save your images in your account, create or edit the document, invite others to edit your documents, among other features. Zoho saves your documents automatically so as to protect them from losing data due to network failure. Also, you can link your Zoho account to your Yahoo or Google account.
Adobe Buzzword
Adobe Buzzword is a robust online flash based word processor. It works on Adobe Flash Platform and behaves like a desktop application, but operates as a Web browser. It is easy to use as there are no requirements for any installation to your system. Buzzword allows writing proposals, reports and working together with others. You can share feed-backs and respond to comments from any computer. It provides three subscription options including a free one.

Etherpad is the first online Web-based processor to allow people to work jointly in real time. It displays the document to all the participants on their screens. Any editing done by a participant is made visible to everyone thus helping them to collaborate with each other in new and productive ways. This online program can facilitate drafting sessions, team programming and conferences, to name only a few.
Peepel
Peepel is a set of desktop applications available in a Web browser. The range of applications includes image insertion, text formatting and documents sharing. An important feature of Peepel is that you can operate multiple applications in the same browsing window. It is not the most attractive Web interface, but surely useful for online word processing.
OpenGoo
OpenGoo offers an interface similar to Google Docs and Zoho. It offers documents, calendars, email, contacts and other networking applications. If you are familiar with Google Docs, OpenGoo has a similar layout and capabilities for document editing. You can create, edit and share documents in a similar manner to Google Docs. The only difference is that in OpenGoo, you can open a new document in the same window whereas in Google Doc, you can only open a new document in a new window.
