Tie Rubber Band on Racquet

Many tennis players like to use a tennis racquet dampener on their racquet to reduce vibration. Dampeners reduce the shock generated when the tennis ball hits the tennis racquet's string bed which, in turn, reduces the vibrations that go through the player's arm. Vibration dampeners can decrease the risk of elbow injuries caused by racquet vibrations. Vibration dampeners are available at most sporting goods stores or tennis specialty stores, but some players prefer to use a plain elastic rubber band as a dampener because it is less expensive and easy to install.

OSelect a spot in the middle bottom portion of your tennis racquet to place the rubber band. It should be centered from left to right and about 2 inches from the bottom racquet frame.

Thread the rubber band through two of the tennis racquet strings so that there are two strings in front of the rubber band.

Pull the rubber band taut by grasping each end of the band with your fingers.

Tie the rubber band in a knot around the two racquet strings and pull tightly to make the knot firm.

Tie the rubber band in a knot once more to make a double knot around the two racquet strings. Pull it tight.
