The Cavachon is a relatively new dog breed that originated in the United States in 1966, when a champion Cavalier King Charles male was bred with a Bichon Frise female by Century Farm Puppies in Iowa. Since then, the popularity of this breed has risen tremendously. As it is a hybrid, it is not recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC). However, it is recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC).

Appearance
Physical attributes
This breed borrows traits from both its parents in terms of appearance. For starters, its beautiful, big, and deep eyes come from the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. So do its ears, which are long and touch its cheeks. Like both the parents, its muzzle and head are small. It has a long tail.
Coat
This breed has a fluffy coat, which is wavy, soft, and silky. The undercoat is dense, while the upper coat is soft. The coat sheds very less, a trait typical of the Bichon Frise. It comes in a wide variety of colors like white, black and tan, apricot, peach, sable, red, and even tri-color. The coat needs to be groomed regularly as it grows quite long―3 to 5 inches on an average!
Height and Weight
This small breed is a lapdog. Its average height is between 12 to 16 inches, and it can weigh anywhere between 10 to 20 pounds. Some may weigh higher or lower than this range, but that depends on the individual dog. There is also a toy version of this breed. The size also depends on whether your pup is a first-generation Cavachon, Cavalier King Charles to Bichon bred, or a second-generation Cavachon, Cavachon to Cavachon bred. Temperament
The Cavachon absolutely loves playing. But don't worry, it loves sleeping even more. This is more like a "play hard, sleep harder" kind of breed. This is a people-loving breed, and it can experience separation anxiety if left alone for too long. The advantage of its small size is that you can take it with you when you head out.
