Baseball Summer Leagues in Philadelphia

Each summer, thousands of kids throughout the United States spend hours each week refining their skills on the baseball diamond. Youth leagues can provide a fun environment for kids to learn the fundamentals of the game. However, the impact of youth leagues also can extend beyond the field by instilling the values of respect and teamwork in children. Kids between the ages of 3 and 18 have the opportunity to play summer baseball in Philadelphia.

21st Ward Junior Baseball League
The 21st Ward Junior Baseball League is a nonprofit organization that seeks to promote the values of sportsmanship, teamwork and respect for more than 1,000 children each season (see Resources). Children between the ages of 7 and 18 are eligible to play.

The league provides instruction for all children, regardless of skill level, and financially subsidizes any child who wants to play baseball. Registration costs vary, but it was $50 to $60 in the summer of 2010. Summer seasons begin in April and run through July.
