Tips to Make Edible Play Dough

Playing with play dough art is a fantastic sensory activity for kids. Along with being able to touch, smell, and see it, they often want to taste it too. In fact, it can be a harrowing task convincing them not to sneak a nibble here and there. So why not give in to their desires and make a tasty peanut butter version your children can happily sample while playing? This recipe makes a silky, soft play dough that's also wonderfully sweet.

Step 1
To make this play dough, you'll need smooth peanut butter, honey and powdered sugar. Please see the last slide for an itemized list of tools and materials.

Step 2
Combine the powdered sugar, peanut butter and honey in the mixing bowl and stir with your spoon until a ball begins to form.

Step 3
Transfer the mixture to your table top and knead with your hands until you achieve a smooth texture.

Step 4
Encourage kids to play with the play dough using store-bought play dough tools, common kitchen utensils and their hands. They can also decorate their creations with other edible ingredients such as raisins, cereal, pretzels or sprinkles.
