The Archive section of a Gmail account is an area where you can save emails that you don't want to delete. Archiving emails clears out the inbox, making it easier to go through the new emails that you receive. If your inbox has hundreds or thousands of emails, it would take a long time to archive each of the messages individually; However, Google designed the archiving utility so that you can archive your email messages in bulk.
Click the drop-down menu next to the empty square above your list of messages, and select "All." All of the messages on the page will be selected. A link appears above the selected messages: "Select all X conversations in Inbox," where "X" stands for the number of messages in your inbox.
Click the link if you want to select all of the messages in your inbox, and not just the messages on that page. If you do click the link, you can reverse it by clicking "Clear Selection."
Click the "Archive" icon, which looks like a folder with an arrow in it. The selected messages are removed from the inbox and placed in the Archive section.
