Make Gmail Display Mail in Basic HTML

Gmail offers two display modes which are automatically chosen depending on your browser. If you have a browser which is fully compatible with Gmail, you see the "standard" view by default. If your browser is not fully compatible, then the "basic HTML" view is enabled. However, even if you have a compatible browser, you may prefer the basic HTML view, which offers faster speeds over slow Internet connections. You can change the view after you log in to Gmail, and even select it as your default view.

Log in to your Gmail account.

Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click "basic HTML" in the line that starts "Gmail view:".

Scroll to the top of the Gmail browser window and click "Set basic HTML as default view." This adopts the basic HTML view as your default, which means you will automatically enter the basic HTML mode whenever you login.

Scroll to the bottom of the Gmail browser window and click "Standard" to resume standard view mode and set it back to the default view.
