Draw Line Through Text in Email

When bold, italics and underline are the only choices on your email software's font toolbar, you can still find a way to add horizontal lines to your email text. These horizontal lines, also known as strikethroughs, allow you to view outdated or erroneous text that someone has crossed out using ink or computer software. Email recipients may not often see email messages containing horizontal lines so they may wonder how you created this simple effect.

Log on to your e-mail client and create a new email message. When done, locate the text within the e-mail that you would like to strike the strikethrough character.

Click the Windows Start button and type "WordPad" without the quotes. Windows displays the WordPad icon in the Start menu. Double-click that icon to launch the program. A new document appears.

Right-click anywhere in the document and click "Paste. The text you copied from your email account appears in the document. Press "Ctrl" and "A" to highlight that text.

Click the strikethrough button at the top of WordPad to add the strikethrough character to the text.

Return to your email message and highlight the text you highlighted previously. Delete that text and replace it the text containing your strikethrough characters.
