If you are familiar with webmail, you know how agonizing it can be to recover a deleted message. You spend countless minutes or hours searching for the message, hoping that it is not gone forever. Unlike email clients like Outlook or Eudora which allow you to download messages from a remote server and recover them later, webmail is not as reliable. There is no guarantee your deleted message can be restored, but you can try taking some steps to help you recover a message if it's still on the web server.
Recovering Yahoo! Webmail
Log in to your Yahoo! webmail account and select the "Trash" link under folders. According to Yahoo! Help, mail in your trash folder can be deleted at any time, so if you need to recover a message, check your trash box right away.
Place a checkmark by the message.
Select "Move > Inbox" or the folder you want the message moved to.
Recovering Gmail Webmail
Log in to your Gmail webmail account and select the "Trash" link. Messages that have been in trash for more than 30 days are automatically deleted.
Locate the message you deleted and place a checkmark beside it.
Select "Move to > Inbox" to restore the message.
Recovering Hotmail Webmail
Log in to your Hotmail webmail account and click on the "Mail" tab.
Select the "Deleted" folder or trash can from the folders list. According to MSN, messages in the Hotmail trash folder are automatically deleted after 24 hours and after these messages are deleted, they cannot be recovered. So, you want to restore any messages you accidentally deleted as soon as possible.
Place a checkmark by the message you want to recover and click on "Put in Folder."
Click the folder you want to move the message to.
Recovering AOL Webmail
Log in to your AOL webmail account and select "Mail."
Click on the "Recently Deleted" folder.
Place a checkmark by the message you want to recover and hit the "Restore" button.
Recovering Yahoo! Webmail
Log in to your Yahoo! webmail account and select the "Trash" link under folders. According to Yahoo! Help, mail in your trash folder can be deleted at any time, so if you need to recover a message, check your trash box right away.
