Gmail helps you migrate from Yahoo Mail by allowing you to fetch every email in your Yahoo account and delivering it to Gmail. Set this up in two ways: Use the Gmail import wizard to import existing Yahoo contacts and mail with an option to forward your Yahoo email for 30 days. This is a good choice if you plan to close your Yahoo account and migrate to Gmail exclusively. Configure Gmail to directly send and receive your Yahoo mail. Use this method if you want to maintain your Yahoo email account, but want to access your email from Gmail.
Step 1
Log in to your Gmail account. Click on the Cog icon and select Settings to open the Gmail Settings screen.
Step 2
Select Accounts and Import and click on the Import Mail and Contacts link to open a pop-up window displaying the first step of the import process.
Step 3
Enter your Yahoo email address in the text field and click Continue.
Step 4
Click on Continue to agree with ShuttleCloud's terms of service and privacy policy. ShuttleCloud is the service Gmail uses to import emails from third-party email providers.
Step 5
Select Agree to allow ShuttleCloud access to your Yahoo emails.
Step 6
Review the import preferences and click on Start Import to proceed. In addition to allowing you to import both your Yahoo emails and contacts into Gmail, ShuttleCloud also enables you to automatically forward any mail sent to your Yahoo account during the next 30 days to Gmail. If you do not wish to activate that feature, uncheck the third box.
Step 7
Click OK to complete the import process.

Enter your Yahoo email address and click on Next Step to proceed to the POP3 settings screen.

Type your Yahoo credentials in the Username and Password fields and click on Add Account to finish the process.
Optionally, configure Gmail to not delete the original emails from your Yahoo account by activating the check box next to Leave a Copy of Retrieved Message on the Server.
For security, retain the check in the box next to Always Use a Secure Connection (SSL) When Retrieving Mail as Yahoo supports the Secure Socket Layer protocol.
Check the third check box if you want Gmail to affix a label to emails retrieved from your Yahoo account, enabling you to easily identify Yahoo emails.ail.
Save retrieved Yahoo emails in the Archive folder by selecting the check box next to *Archive Incoming Messages. If you enable this option, your Yahoo emails do not appear in your inbox.
