Transfer Folders From One Email Account to Another

If you have more than one email account and you want to transfer email messages from one account to another, you can do the job with Esaya’s TrueSwitch Easy Transfer tool. Many Internet service providers partner with the TrueSwitch service, including Gmail. TrueSwitch does not work with all transfers into Gmail, however. That’s why Gmail has a built-in “Import mail” tool in its interface. If the TrueSwitch service cannot be used to complete the transfer, Gmail will use its use Mail Fetcher tool.

Transfer Using the TrueSwitch Tool
Go to “Easy Transfer” Web page on the TrueSwitch website (see Resources).

Click “Terms of Service” to review the TrueSwitch Terms of Service agreement. The agreement will open in a new window. Close the Terms of Service agreement window when you are done reviewing it. Check the box next to the statement acknowledging that you understand and agree to abide by TrueSwitch’s terms and provisions. Click “Begin.”

Enter the email address and account password for the email account you would like to transfer your saved email messages from in the “Current Email Addresses” section. Enter the email address and account password for the email account you would like to transfer your saved email messages to in the “New Email Addresses” section.

Click “Continue.” The Easy Transfer tool will check your account login credentials to verify your ownership of the two email accounts.

Check the box next to “Copy my E-mail history.” Click “Continue.” It can take up to 24 hours for the transfer to be complete.

Transfer into Gmail
Log into your Gmail account.

Click the Gear icon in the upper-right corner of the Gmail window to open the Settings menu. Click “Mail settings.”

Go to the “Accounts and Import” tab. Click “Import mail and contacts.” A new window will open.

Enter the email address of the account you would like to transfer your saved email messages from. Click “Continue.” Enter the account’s password. Click “Continue.”

Check the box next to “Import mail.” Click “Start import.” It can take 24 to 48 hours for the transfer to be complete.
