Attatch Excel Files to Yahoo

Microsoft Excel files, which are spreadsheets generally saved in the XLS format, can be shared by attaching the files to an email through a provider such as Yahoo! If the attachment process is not working, there are a handful of troubleshooting approaches to take to try to resolve the problem and get your file delivered.

XLS Excel File
The first step in troubleshooting why your Excel file will not attach to the Yahoo! email is checking the file itself. The maximum file size you can attach is 25MB; anything above this size will not attach. Yahoo! also prevents encrypted XLS files from being sent. If the data in your spreadsheet contains confidential information that has been encrypted as a safety precaution, you will not be able to use Yahoo! to share the file. Spreadsheets can also become unintentionally corrupted. Try resaving your file using a different name before including the XLS extension.

Internet Connection and Browser
If your Internet connection has been disrupted, Yahoo! mail may appear to be working and will even let you select your Excel file, but an error screen will appear before the attachment will actually be uploaded. If you see "Yahoo! Mail was unable to connect" after trying to attach your file, check to see if your network connection is still active. Reload the page, as necessary. Before doing so, copy any text you included in the body of your email and paste it into a separate word processing document to safeguard it while Yahoo! mail reloads, as your email draft may be lost. If your connection is fine, switch Internet browsers to see if an issue with the browser itself is preventing your file from attaching.

Yahoo! Mail
The Yahoo! server can generally handle attaching XLS files, but occasionally a recent update to the server will cause Yahoo! to be temporarily unstable. As your schedule allows, wait an hour or day to attach and send your file. If the delivery of the spreadsheet is urgent, you can return to a previous view of Yahoo! mail, which may help you bypass any JavaScript problems. Using the "Options" or "Settings" for your browser, choose to turn JavaScript off. Once you load Yahoo! mail, you will see an error screen calling you to either "Enable JavaScript" or "Go to a previous version of Yahoo! Mail." Click the latter and attempt to attach your file. You can re-enable JavaScript through your browser settings before sending the email, as desired.

Computer
When attaching an XLS file, you might experience computer difficulties that make the attachment fail. Be sure that Microsoft Excel has already been closed before you try to attach the file to an email. Also be aware that having a number of other programs running in the background could prevent the attachment. Close all unnecessary programs and, if needed, restart your computer before retrying to attach the file.
