File Limit on Yahoo

Yahoo! Mail has limitations for attachments sent via email, mainly in size but also in type. The size limitation is standard for all email addresses. There is a different attachment limit for when you're sending email to a Yahoo Group. Yahoo! Mail also offers an application to help you send files larger than the attachment limit allows.

Size Limitations

Yahoo! Mail does not support attachments larger than 25MB. You can achieve this limit either by adding one file up to 25MB, or several smaller files with a sum no larger than 25MB. Yahoo! Mail supports all standard types of documents, images and media files. Attach a file by opening a new email and clicking the "Attach" button, then browsing to the file you want to attach and clicking "Open" or "OK."

In the lower left corner of the Yahoo! Mail interface is the applications module; one of these is the "Attach Large Files" application. This application is built by YouSendIt, it popular utility for sending large files via email, and allows you to circumvent the attachment limit. Allow the application access to your mail account. Enter your recipient in the email text box, click the "Select Files" button and choose the file or files you want to send. This application supports files up to 100MB, either in one large file or as the sum of multiple files. Click the "Share" button in the upper left corner of the center pane to send the files.

Any email sent to a Yahoo! Group that you're a member of have different limitations than standard emails. Yahoo! Groups do not allow attachments any larger than 15MB; if you have multiple files, they must total less than 15MB.
