Yahoo Mail offers the option to remove attachments from email messages in your account. However, the removal process works only in the New Message, Drafts and Forward Message windows. To remove attachments from an email in your inbox, folders or archived messages, you need to forward the email message to yourself -- after removing the attachments in the Forward Message window -- and then delete the original message. The forwarded message contains the content of the original message without the attachments.
Step 1
Sign in to your Yahoo inbox and then browse to the folder, such as the Drafts folder, that has the message with the attachment you want to remove. For example, click "Drafts" and then select the email message. You can identify a message with an attachment by the attachment icon resembling a paperclip.

Click "Remove" next to the attachment you want to remove from the message. If you have multiple attachments, click "Remove All" to simultaneously remove all attachments.
Click "Remove."
Step 3
Hover your cursor over an image attachment, such as a JPEG file, to reveal an "X." Click the “X” to remove the file, which is the alternative way to remove an attachment. Unlike other attachments, the word “Remove” does not appear next to an image attachment. After you finish composing your message, click the "Send" button.
Click "X" and then click "Send."

Sign in to your Yahoo account dashboard and open the message you want to forward. Click "Forward" to open the Forward Message window, which opens beneath the original message. Alternatively, click the "Forward" arrow to open the Forward Message window.

Click the "Remove" button next to a text, audio or video attachment to remove the file. Hover your cursor over an image attachment and then click "X" to remove the file. If the message has multiple files, click "Remove All."

Enter your own Yahoo email address in the "To" field and click the "Send" button to send the email without the attachments. The email appears in your inbox after a few seconds. Open the email to view the message without attachments.
Click "Send."
Step 4
Delete the original email with attachments by opening it and clicking the "Delete" icon. However, the message is not yet permanently deleted from your account. The email is removed from its current location and sent to the Trash folder.
Click the "Delete" icon.
Step 5
Click the "Trash" folder to display the deleted original message, select the message's check box and then click the "Delete" icon.

Click the "OK" button to permanently remove the original message from your Yahoo account.
