Using Yahoo on iPhone

Although you can take your Yahoo! mail with you anywhere you go using your iPhone, you won't open the account and access emails if you're experiencing network connection problems. If the account isn't configured properly, or if it conflicts with an opened Yahoo! email account on a third-party device, you won't be able to access your emails.

Using Yahoo on iPhone
Network Connection
If you're not connected to a Wi-Fi network or have a low cellular network connection, an error message usually pops up on your iPhone's screen when you try to open your Yahoo! mailbox. If your 3G or 4G connection bars in the upper left corner are fewer than normal, moving to an area with a better signal improves connection. If you're within range of a wireless access point, connecting to it improves network speed for viewing emails. Depending on the wireless access point, public and private networks require you to sign in using a password. If you're unable to connect to the Wi-Fi network, turning off Wi-Fi from the iPhone's settings allows you to connect using the cellular network data connection.

Setup
In most cases, you won't be able to access Yahoo! mail using your iPhone if the account wasn't configured properly. If the STMP settings in the “Outgoing Mail Server” are incorrect, you'll run into connection problems. To resolve Yahoo! mail issues, check the mail setup on the iPhone's settings. Tap the Yahoo! mail account on the iPhone's settings and follow the guided prompts to configure the account properly. In addition, an error message usually pops up on the screen if you enter the incorrect mail password.

Multiple Device Lock-out
Apple says that accessing the Yahoo! mail account using a variety of devices such as computers, laptops in addition to the iPhone can cause a device lock-out. When you use other devices, signing out of Yahoo! mail before using another device resolves this problem quickly. Alternatively, Apple says enabling the “Fetch New Data” feature on the iPhone's mail settings increases the interval to fetch mail and often solves multiple device lock-out problems.

Tips and Recommendations
If the problem persists, restarting your iPhone reboots the device's iOS. When you press and hold the “Sleep/Wake” button for a few seconds, the red slider appears on the iPhone's screen. If you drag the slider, the phone turns off. Pressing and holding the “Sleep/Wake” button automatically restarts it. When the phone restarts, the Apple logo appears on the screen. If a reset doesn't solve the problem, setting up your Yahoo! Mail account from scratch is necessary.
